MWC 2017: ZTE Blade V8 Mini, V8 Lite Announced

ZTE announced two budget smartphones, ZTE Blade V8 lite and the ZTE Blade V8 Mini at the ongoing MWC 2017. These smartphones aim to offer good specifications at an affordable price.

ZTE Blade V8 Mini

The ZTE Blade V8 Mini is a camera centric phone and houses a dual camera setup a the back. It houses a 13-megapixel camera along with a 2-megapixel sensor to calculate depth. It also gets tons of shooting features like bokeh, auto HDR and post-capture refocusing. The phone can also render images in 3D by combining two images together. At the front, it gets a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The Mini sports a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It features 16GB of internal storage that is further expandable up to 256GB.

The phone runs on Android Nougat with a custom skin from ZTE on top. The smartphone also gets a fingerprint scanner on the back and houses a 2800mAh battery. ZTE has mentioned that the pricing for the smartphone will be revealed when it is launched in the next few months.

ZTE Blade V8 Lite

The ZTE Blade V8 Lite also sports a 5-inch HD display but is powered by a MediaTek 6750 octa-core processor. The smartphone gets 2GB of RAM as well with 16GB of external storage. The V8 Lite is the cheaper among the two phone and houses an 8-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus and LED flash. At the front, it sports a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. It also features the fingerprint scanner on the back while packing a 2500mAh battery inside. It runs on Android Nougat and will be available in three colors at the time of launch.

Lenovo Vibe K5 Note With 64GB Storage Launched In India

Lenovo has finally launched the 64GB variant of Vibe K5 Note in India for Rs 13,499. The Vibe K5 Note was first launched in August last year starting at Rs 11,999. It came in two variants of 3GB and 4GB RAM, while both the variants have same 32GB of internal storage. The company has already launched the successor K6 Power and K6 Note in India

Talking about specs, the new Vibe K5 Note share all the specs with its other variants except the bump in internal storage. To recall the specs, the Vibe K5 Note sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and coupled with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage is further expandable up to 128GB with a MicroSD card.

It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, it gets an 8-megapixel snapper with 77.4 degrees wide-angle lens. It is a dual-SIM phone with two Nano SIM slots and also supports 4G VoLTE. The Vibe K5 Note packs in a 3500mAh battery and runs on Android 6 Marshmallow. It also sports a fingerprint scanner on the back panel, located right beneath the camera.

The phone comes with all standard connectivity options such as dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Dolby ATMOS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a micro-USB port.

Upcoming Lenovo A series device allegedly appears in a leaked image

The upcoming Mobile World Congress is all set to witness a lot of new smartphones and successors from top league brands. It now seems that the Chinese handset maker, Lenovo is also gearing up to launch the next handset in its budget A series lineup at the event. A recent leak on the Chinese social network, popped up a couple of images showing what looks like an alleged upcoming Lenovo A series device. At first glance, the handset looks chunky block with three layer design like the one on Vibe X2 and gives off a premium vibe. However, the camera and speaker location on the rear panel is a dead giveaway about the fact that it is in fact a budget handset. Also, while the finishing on the rear panel looks to be metallic, we can make out that it is plastic build with metallic finish on it, from these images. However, there is no saying it for sure and it might actually be metallic body as well.

Flipkart records highest-ever single day sale, grosses $200mn

E-commerce firm Flipkart recorded sales worth around USD 200 million on Monday, its highest-ever single-day sale in the company's history, a spokesperson for the company has told moneycontrol.com. The sales are likely the results of a massive advertising campaign run by the company ahead of the upcoming festive season in India. As per market estimates, e-tailers such as Flipkart are expected to spend around Rs 400-Rs 500 crore in advertising during October, more than three times the usual money spent in steady state, according to research and advisory firm RedSeer Consulting. This is the third Big Billion Days sale being run by Flipkart. Analysts say e-commerce sales this season may be a make-or-break for many Indian online retail firms, especially Flipkart, which competes with US giant Amazon. In June, Amazon, Inc announced an additional investment of USD 3 billion into its Indian unit. This comes after it exhausted its investment of USD 2 billion announced in July 2014. This fresh infusion of funds comes at a time when homegrown e-commerce firms are struggling to raise money. So far, Flipkart seems to have trumped peers, at least when it comes to pricing strategy for mobile phones.  According to a report by Bangalore-based research firm RedSeer, Flipkart reported lowest median prices across popular non-exclusive mobile stock keeping units listed on its platform compared to Amazon and Snapdeal on Monday.   The median price for non-exclusive mobile phone stood at Rs 7,500 on Flipkart compared to Rs 7,900 and Rs 7,800 on Amazon and Snapdeal, respectively.   Amazon, however, led the race when it came to consumer, electronics and large appliances segment. The same was reported to be Rs 4,050 for Amazon Rs 4,200 for Flipkart and Rs 4,300 for Snapdeal, RedSeer said. According to RedSeer, television continued to be the primary source that has created awareness about the festive sales to people. Nearly 68 percent of the total people surveyed said they were aware of the ongoing festive sales of at least one of the e-commerce firms. Of it, 64 percent said they got to know about the sales through television ads. Social media followed by making 49 percent people aware of the same, as per the RedSeer survey. Snapdeal and Amazon did not immediately respond to a query by moneycontrol.com.
